About the Project

Project Overview

Triview Metropolitan District is constructing improvements to 5,500 feet of Higby Road from Jackson Creek Parkway to Harness Road. Construction work for the project is being performed by Kiewit Infrastructure Co.

The purpose of the improvements is to:

  • Increase traffic flow and provide traffic calming
  • Provide safe and designated pedestrian crossings, sidewalks and a multi-use trail for students and others
  • Provide shared bicycle lanes and center islands to prevent dangerous left turns
  • Provide greater access in the event of a wildland fire

Project Scope

The Project consists of, but is not limited to, adding two roundabouts and center islands, creating pedestrian crossings, adding a 5-foot sidewalk on the north side of Higby Road and an 8-foot multi-use trail on the south side.

Traffic Operations


  • Intersections are given a letter designation based on congestion of traffic called the level of service (LOS).​​
  • Intersections along Higby Road are anticipated to operate between Free Flow (LOS A) to Stable Flow (LOS C/D).​​
  • Roundabouts reduce the speed of vehicles through the intersection and provide a continuous traffic flow. ​​
  • The roundabout provides less conflict points than a traditional intersection.​​
  • Fewer conflict points = fewer crashes and less severe ​​
